“Adrenal fatigue is a real diagnosis.”
Research has not validated the proposed diagnosis or its tests. That does not make fatigue imaginary or rule out a real medical cause.
“Adrenal fatigue” is not a research-supported diagnosis of worn-out adrenal glands. Stress and fatigue are real, but they do not show that the glands have stopped keeping up. Adrenal insufficiency is a different, genuine medical disorder.
Studies of cortisol patterns in tired people are inconsistent and do not establish a distinct adrenal fatigue syndrome. Ordinary fatigue has many possible explanations.
Safety note: Some tested “adrenal support” supplements contained hormones. Do not start hormone products or abruptly stop prescribed steroids on the basis of this label.
Talk to a healthcare professional if: Get persistent or disabling fatigue assessed. Severe weakness, vomiting, fainting or confusion can need urgent care, particularly with known adrenal disease.
An unproven explanation should not prevent you from getting help for real symptoms.
Ask for evaluation of the symptoms rather than treatment for a wellness label.
