“Male menopause is real.”
Men do not undergo a universal reproductive transition equivalent to menopause. Age-related testosterone changes and genuine hypogonadism exist, but they are variable and need proper diagnosis.
“Male menopause” is a misleading name for changes that do not happen to every man in the same way. Testosterone may decline with age, and some men develop a real deficiency. Fatigue or aging alone does not establish that diagnosis.
Research links a specific pattern of sexual symptoms to low testosterone more clearly than broad symptoms such as tiredness. Health conditions and medications can also matter.
Safety note: Do not start testosterone based on an age label or one blood test. Treatment can suppress sperm production.
Talk to a healthcare professional if: Discuss compatible symptoms and repeat morning testosterone testing with a clinician.
Symptoms deserve attention without assuming that every older man needs hormone replacement.
Investigate the actual symptoms rather than self-diagnosing “male menopause.”
