For workplaces, schools, rec centers and community groups running step challenges with Health Movement Steps. Participants’ questions (steps not showing, watches, joining) are on the support page. Anything else: support@healthmovement.com.
Do I need an organization account to run a challenge?
For friends, family and community groups
No. Anyone can start a challenge in the app and invite people with a link or code. It is free and no organization account is needed.
For workplaces, schools, nonprofits and other organizations
Yes. Create an organization account on the dashboard. It is free for up to 50 people, and it adds group reporting, verification for schools and nonprofits, and plans for larger groups.
How do I create the organization?
Go to the dashboard and sign in with Google, or ask for a sign-in link by email. Then enter the organization’s name and type, and you are the owner. Add other admins from the dashboard. To connect challenges you created in the app, sign in with the same Google account or email you use in the app.
How do I connect a challenge to the organization?Create the challenge in the app (Start tab, Workplace or Schools). Then on the dashboard, under Challenges, enter that challenge’s invite code. You must be the person who created it.
Can I run it from a computer only?Creating challenges happens in the app on a phone; reporting, plans and billing happen on the dashboard in a browser.
How do I get everyone in at once?Open the challenge in the app, tap Share, and send the link or the QR code by email, chat or a printed poster. Each person installs the free app and taps the link; the code is filled in. Nobody needs an account first.
Do participants pay?Never. Organizations pay only above the free limit.
Someone cannot see their steps.Send them to the app’s Help screen (Profile, Get help), which checks their setup. The usual cause on Android is that their step app is not yet sharing with Health Connect.
Do people need a watch? No. A phone in a pocket counts steps. Watches work through the phone’s health app; details on the support page.
What can I see?On the dashboard: group totals per team and per challenge, and how many people were active. Never one person’s steps. Any team or group under 5 people is hidden. Participants see the standings in the app, which show each person’s daily progress to their teammates and rivals; that is the game, and people choose to join it.
Can I change the challenge after it starts?Name, team names and end date, yes (three dots at the top of the challenge, then Edit). Start date and format lock once the first day begins.
Someone left the company or dropped out.In the app, three dots next to their name, Remove from challenge. Their past days stay in the team total; they cannot rejoin with the old code.
Can I rerun it next month?Yes. Head-to-head challenges can repeat automatically, or create a new one and send the new code. History stays in everyone’s app.
Reports and exports. The dashboard shows group totals; plans that include it add a CSV download of the same group totals. There is no per-person export, by design.
What is free?Up to 100 different people across all your organization’s challenges. Verified schools, colleges, public health departments, rec centers and nonprofits have no limit.
Verification.Request it on the dashboard. Many organizations are confirmed automatically by email address; the rest are reviewed by a person, usually within one business day.
Paying.Plans are billed by card through Stripe on the dashboard. Receipts arrive by email from Stripe. Need an invoice or purchase order? Use Request invoice on the dashboard and we will follow up. Change or cancel from Plan, Manage billing; cancelling keeps the plan until the end of the paid period.
Refunds, closing the organization, removing its data, or a new owner.Email support@healthmovement.com from the owner’s address. Ownership transfer is done by us for now.
What do employees or students agree to?When someone joins a challenge attached to an organization, the app shows them what the organization can see before they tap Join.
Age.Everyone in a challenge must be 13 or older. School programs are for students 13 and older.
Health plans and incentives.Health Movement Steps is a step competition, not a wellness plan or medical product. If you tie rewards to it, your own rules (and in the United States, wellness-program law) apply; keep prizes small and open to everyone.
Data.Privacy policy. Organizations get aggregate data only; we never sell data or show ads.
