Most answers are also in the app: Profile, then Get help. That screen checks your setup for you.
Need a person? Email support@healthmovement.com. Tell us your phone (iPhone or Android), what you expected, and what happened. We read every message and usually answer within one business day.
Nothing right now. (We put anything we are aware of here first, so check back before emailing.)
My steps are not showing up (iPhone).Open the iPhone Settings app, then Health, Data Access & Devices, Health Movement Steps, and make sure Steps is on. Then pull down on Home to refresh. If the Health app itself shows no steps, the phone is not counting: Settings, Privacy & Security, Motion & Fitness, Fitness Tracking must be on.
My steps are not showing up (Android).Steps reach the app through Health Connect, and a step-counting app has to put them there first. (1) Open your step app (Google Fit, Fitbit, Samsung Health or similar), find its Health Connect or sync setting, turn on sharing Steps, and press sync if there is a button. (2) Open Health Connect, App permissions, Health Movement Steps, and allow Steps. (3) Pull down on Home to refresh. If Health Connect shows no step data under Data and access, the problem is step 1, not the app.
My steps are lower than my watch or phone says.Steps typed in by hand are never counted, so nobody can fake a win. If two sources recorded the same walk, your phone’s health app keeps one copy and we show that total. Watch steps can take a few minutes to arrive.
Yesterday’s steps changed overnight.Watches and phones often finish syncing after midnight. The app re-reads yesterday each time it opens, and standings use the final number.
Can I add steps by hand? No. Only steps your phone or watch recorded count.
Apple Watch: works with nothing to set up. Its steps go into Apple Health, which merges them with your phone’s.
Pixel Watch and Fitbit (Android): open the Fitbit app, Settings, Health Connect, and turn on sharing Steps. Samsung Galaxy Watch: open Samsung Health, Settings, Health Connect, and allow Steps.
Garmin, Oura, Whoop, Amazfit and most others: open that brand’s app and turn on writing Steps to Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android), usually under Settings, then Connected apps. Their steps then show here.
The app never connects to a watch directly; it reads what your phone’s health app has. If a watch brand’s app does not offer sharing, those steps cannot reach us.
How do I join a challenge?Tap the invite link someone sent you and the app opens with the code filled in. Or tap Start, then “Got an invite?”, and type the 6-character code.
The invite link opened a web page instead of the app.Install the app first, then tap the link again. If it still opens a web page, open the app, tap Start, “Got an invite?”, and type the code shown on that page.
Why can’t I change my goal?Goals can be raised until the challenge’s first day is over, then they lock so results stay fair. Someone with no goal yet can still set their first one.
The standings look out of date.Standings update when each person opens the app, because that is when their phone sends its steps. Someone who has not opened the app today shows yesterday’s number.
I traveled and my days look off. Each challenge keeps the time zone it was created in, so everyone’s day starts and ends together. Steps are never lost; they land on the challenge day they were walked in.
How do I leave a challenge?Open it, tap the three dots at the top, then Leave.
How do I add a friend? On the Friends tab, tap Invite a friend to send your link, or Enter a friend’s code to type theirs. Codes are 8 characters and sit at the top of everyone’s Friends tab. There is no search by name and no contact upload, on purpose.
What do friends see about me?Your name, photo, the days you hit your goal, and your streak milestones. Never your exact step count by day, and never anything from a work or school challenge. Turn “Share with friends” off on the Feed tab to post nothing.
Who can see me in a Sprint?Friends always see your name and photo. In house and public Sprints, other people see them too unless you turn off Show my name in Sprints in Profile; then you show as “Someone”. People under 18 are only counted, never listed, for people who are not their friends.
Can I show where I am from in Sprints? If you are 18 or older, yes, and it is optional. Open Profile, Where you are from, pick a country, add a city if you like, and turn on Show it next to my name. It is only what you type; the app never uses your phone’s location. Tap Remove my place to take it off.
I am not getting reminders.Profile, Notification settings: check the reminder is on. Check the phone allows notifications for Health Movement Steps. On iPhone, Focus modes and Scheduled Summary can hold notifications back; on Android, battery saver and Do Not Disturb can. Quiet hours in Notification settings also silence challenge alerts at night.
I got a new phone and my challenges are gone.If you signed in with Apple or Google, open Profile and sign in again on the new phone. If you never signed in, your challenges lived only on the old phone. Sign in on your current phone to protect your account in future.
Can I sign in with both Google and Apple?Yes. On Profile, under Your account, choose Add Sign in with Apple or Add Sign in with Google. Both then open the same account. If that Google account or Apple ID already has its own player, it can’t be added, and accounts are never merged.
Why is an organization asking me questions? Some public groups add an optional questionnaire to a challenge to understand who it reaches. Skip any question, or all of them. They only see totals, never your answers, and leaving the challenge deletes them.
See or export my data.Email support@healthmovement.com from the address on your account and we will send what we hold about you.
Delete your account and data.Open the app, tap Profile, scroll down, tap Delete account, and confirm. Your profile, name, photo, daily step totals, streaks, medals and your place in every challenge are deleted right away. If you organized a challenge, it is handed to another member; if you were the only person in it, the challenge is deleted too. We may keep anonymous, combined statistics that do not identify you. Can’t open the app? Email support@healthmovement.com from the address you used, or tell us the name on your account, and we will delete it for you.
Report a problem or a person.Tap the three dots next to anyone’s name (in a challenge or on the Friends tab) and choose Report or Block. To report a challenge itself, open the three-dot menu at the top of the challenge and choose Report challenge. We review every report within 24 hours. Organizers can Remove from challenge from the same menu.
Parents and guardians: see Information for parents.
Do I need an organization account to run a challenge?
For friends, family and community groups
No. Anyone can start a challenge in the app and invite people with a link or code. It is free and no organization account is needed.
For workplaces, schools, nonprofits and other organizations
Yes. Create an organization account on the dashboard with your work or school email. It is free for up to 50 people, and it adds group reporting, verification and plans for larger groups. Running a church, nonprofit or community group on a personal email such as Gmail? Choose Request access on the dashboard and we will review it.
More organizer answers (setting up, inviting, what you can see, billing, verification) are on the organizer help page.
